Born in 1930 in Washington D.C., Father Al was inspired to lead a heroic life after reading the adventures ofDC Comics'Boy Commandoscomic book series as a kid. It propelled him forward, eventually discerning a unique call to be a poor missionary priest. He would go on to found orphanages in South Korea, the Philippines and Mexico, laying the foundation for theWorld Villages for Childrenorganization. Every step of the way he had to confrontbullieswho tried to stop him in his tracks.
