A new comic book on St. Francis' early life, in honor of the Jubilee Year, promulgated by Pope Leo XIV, on the occasion of the Eighth Centenary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi.

This adaptation of St. Francis’ life will be different than most modern depictions, focusing on spiritual depth and highlighting how his radical poverty was not misery, but a joyful revolt.

Among our inspirations for this comic are biographies by G.K. Chesterton, Elizabeth Goudge and Omer Englebert.

This comic was written by Philip Kosloski and drawn by classically trained artist Will Nathans and colored by Marvel/DC Comics artist Jay David Ramos.

Synopsis

St. Francis of Assisi wanted to be a heroic knight, riding his horse into battle to save the day. Born into a wealthy merchant family, Francis had everything he ever needed to achieve his dream.

Yet, just as he was about to ride off to seize his victory on the battlefield, God turned his life upside down.

Instead of fighting for an earthly king, Francis was enlisted by a Heavenly King.

His quest for a chivalrous life turned into a sacrificial mission as a poor herald, proclaiming the Gospel to the world and making way for the Great King.

Be inspired by a man filled with extraordinary joy in the face of every opposition, freely choosing to give-up everything for the sake of the Kingdom.
