from 991 reviewsI’m halfway through this book and I enjoy it better than Sarah R’s first work which was very good Brave Water. I hope she continues to write books that connect to teenagers in a spiritual and meaningful way.
This book is a brave exploration of current social issues, juxtaposed to a historical fiction story. Absolutely fantastic!
Realistic fiction with relatable characters-I loved it! Entertaining and delivers a message without being hokey. Just purchased a second copy to give as a gift.
Great book , I got it for my daughter. She absolutely loved it looking forward to other works from a wonderful author.
I really enjoyed this ya novel written by a good friend of mine. She writes with compassion and wisdom about a teen girl from a dysfunctional family who is also very poor. Her name is joan and her grandmother tells her she is like Joan of Arc. I found the plot very engaging, the characters very real, and really got interested in what would happen next. Great book for adults and teens. And very pro life in a non preachy way.
Even though I raced through this book a month ago, Joanie still lingers in my mind. She embodies the humble spirit of Joan of Arc as she navigates the challenges of her life at home and school. The high school "mean girls" are cunning and realistic. Joanie’s failed attempts to speak the truth and persuade are relatable. She never gives up; each failure brings shame and fuels her renewed determination. This modern, flawed heroine has become my new best friend.
The drawings were great and the story-line was very engaging! My 10 year old couldn't put it down.
I read this book to my 10 and 12 year olds before bedtime, and they were tranfixed. We had an hour long conversation about all the themes in the book--they asked what an STD was, the purple thing (condom) the girl showed the guy, the sadness of abortion. Honestly, this little book did a lot of heavy lifting so I could have a chance to talk to my kids. My 14 year old read it in private and she said "it was good." My 16 year old son read it, and didn't comment much on it, because we have talked about these issues before---but I like to revisit these topics about once ayear with my kids so things sink in. So it was a very good tool for parenting with open communication about these topics. Well done!!!
This book contains multiple stories ranging from history, fun Catholic facts, and real life stories of American Catholics. The art reminds me of Golden age Marvel comics. I hope there will be a vol 3!!
Very nice comic book!
Very nice comic book.
My kids really love it! They want all them.
Little Missionary: St. Therese of Lisieux is a charming telling of key moments in the life of one of our most important and accessible saints. I appreciate all the work that went into crafting this little gem. Thank you, and God bless you!
Finnian and the Seven Mountains - Volume I [Collection]
I was captivated by the story of Father Baker. I had never heard of him. You all do a wonderful job in spreading knowledge of our Faith.
