"Philip Kosloski's The Last Monks of Skellig Michael illustrates the unique place this remote location has played not only in Church history but also in the Star Wars universe. Kosloski takes the reader on a journey with the Irish monks who lived, worked, and prayed on this topographically challenged island providing its past and present history. This book is not simply a telling of the heroic monks and their monastery in this "desert" island off the coast of the Emerald Isle, Kosloski also provides spiritual resources for the reader's use in order to deepen one's faith in imitation of the last monks of Skellig Michael."
-- Steve Weidenkopf, author of Timeless: A History of the Catholic Church and Epic Study Series by Ascension Press
*Revised and updated, along with an appendix of ancient Irish prayers.
My nephew is an avid reader and enjoys fantasy stories. This book was great gift for tying in the fantasy story he saw on the big screen with the real lives of some early Church heroes! Learning how the way of life of early Christian can be seen as transcendent helps make the impact of our faith more tangible. Great job, Voyage!
I loved this book -- I was able to read through it easily in a day or so, and it does a great job of balancing facts about Skellig Michael with some fun info about how it ties in with Star Wars. It's very readable, and I'm already lending it out to family friends :)
Purchased for my 9 year old as a First Communion gift. He loves comic books and Star Wars so this was a great match! He wanted to read it as soon as he opened it. Not a difficult read He only asked me a handful of questions. Love it.
Very interesting!!
Was skeptical before I purchased the story. Once I got it I was happy to read some very interesting and historical information. This needs to be read by many as it relates to not only Star Wars but to our very souls.
